Perfectly Presentable Top Tips for the Perfect Wardrobe!

Hey Perfectly Presented Readers! How are we all today? I’m very well, nice and early start for me as I’m off to Cheltenham this afternoon to meet with the director of CFW to see if there is any way in which I can help this year. So today’s post is only going to be a quickie! I’m going to give you my top tips for sensible, fashionable styling and buying (in a nut shell)!

1.       Style is not about being a slave to trends. Let them influence the way you dress but remember that classic pieces are just that for a reason (anyone heard of the little black dress?!)! Invest in them and then jazz them up with on-trend accessories.

2.       Buy designer pieces in the sale if you can’t afford full price. Then focus on accessories, the right accessories make an outfit and there are some really excellent fashion-forward clothes on the high street. These teamed with designer accessories definitely gets a Gold in my book.
3.       Don’t buy something just because it has a load of money off in the sale. You may think it is a bargain but if you don’t really like or suit it, you’ll never wear it. Prime example...

4.       Don’t buy a cheap copy of a designer item, fashionistas can always tell! Buy collaborations (such as the upcoming H&M and Maison Martin Margiela) or limited editions. If you’re buying high street then stick to their original designs, there really are some absolutely exquisite ones out there!
5.       Jeans and Jewels: buy as expensive as you can afford. The better quality means they last longer, the jeans fit better and the jewellery doesn’t leave your fingers green. Never a good look.
6.       Try and organise your wardrobe so that you have all the items you’ve ever wanted or needed. Have you ever bought a beautiful skirt, taken it home and realised you have zero tops that match?! I do it all the time. Take your next day off, try on all of your clothes and put them all into at least one wearable outfit. If you’re missing something make a list of what you need and then next time you go shopping buy something from that list, not another beautiful skirt that you have nothing to match it with!

7.       Go and get your bust measured. So many women are wearing the wrong sized bra and this is not only uncomfortable, it means that clothes do not fit properly! You’d be surprised what a difference it actually makes so next time you’re out and about and have a few minutes to spare go and get measured! It will change the way you look and feel completely! Also, you'll be pleased to hear that Victoria's secret have opened their first ever UK store on the corner of New Bond Street and Brook Street in the Nations Capital and have a beautiful new line called Body By Victoria, so check it out!

8.       Invest in a good winter coat. Buy one that suits you and is good quality. Spend a little extra money on it and it really will last so as long as you buy a classic piece it will never go out of fashion. I always love the selection that Whistles have.

9.       Learn how to dress for your body shape. Dressing is an art-form. It can transform someone with no confidence into a rock star, or just as swiftly reduce the most confident girl you know into an insecure mess in the wrong outfit. If you always feel not quite right in an outfit then take some time investigating what body shape you are and what will suit you. The best way to do this is to go to a personal shopping department whilst out shopping, or hire a stylist. They are trained in how to make you look and feel amazing and they really know their stuff. I have helped countless people find that perfect outfit, or even a whole capsule wardrobe, and I know that they felt overjoyed when we had finished because they were confident and comfortable and loved what they bought.

10.   Buy fashion magazines, look at designer campaigns, study mannequins in your favourite shop. Take ideas and inspiration from your favourite blog (I wonder which one that will be…wink, wink, nudge, nudge!) and try them out! Raid your wardrobe for things you already have and try them in ways that you wouldn’t normally to see if they go…if not? Who cares! Try something else! Experiment with things and you just might find something that takes your breath away!

These tips are just in time for those PPRs amongst us that are going out to buy new AW12 pieces so I hope they come in handy!

I’m going to wear my Acne shirt with a Jaegar Boutique navy, pleated skirt with a burgundy umbrella pattern on it for my coffee meeting today-will post a pic in a bit!
Hope you all have wonderful days!

Love, love,
